Medill School of Journalism
The Challenge
The Medill School of Journalism @ Northwestern University faced several challenges when deploying this large web presence. While the project included the initial implementation of the Ektron CMS to produce news web sites for their newsrooms in Washington D.C. and Chicago, Ektron functionality needed to be extended to meet customization requirements without creating issues for future updates and upgrades. In addition, a user-friendly interface for non-technical users to enter and manipulate items was necessary to ensure early adoption.
The Solution
Development of this Ektron All-Star Award Winning web presence was a combined effort of Medill School of Journalism developers with assistance from WSOL. WSOL primary objectives involved extending Ektron functionality where customization was required and development of several interactive elements that communicated with the Ektron database. This collaborative effort demonstrated excellence in developing a site which has become a virtual newsroom for student journalists to manage content, add photos and upload video files to the web site for publication.
