The Challenge

An existing CMS400 user, the City had already validated CMS400 as a solid foundation for the site. Some of the challenges included creating a home page that allows each city department to have a voice without becoming too busy, designing a site that both residents and visitors can use and navigate easily, and breaking away from the rigid "government site" look to create a more personable and inviting user experience.

The Solution

The redesign process started with an onsite, site analysis and discovery process. Creative design and development of the multimedia features followed. Several highlights include the dynamic menu system and flash elements on the home page, which are manageable via the CMS (in fact just about everything on the site is). In addition, section theming is used to provide visual cues to help site users identify where they are on the site. Finally, WSOL helped migrate nearly 8,000 existing content blocks so that the site was code complete on Friday and launched on Tuesday (that's fast folks).
